MOTA ’26

Three Days of Cycling Around Lake Trasimeno

25–27 September 2026 | Sant’Arcangelo sul Trasimeno, Umbria

From 25 to 27 September 2026, Lake Trasimeno becomes a meeting point for cycle tourists, gravel riders, mountain bikers, e-bike enthusiasts and outdoor lovers with MOTA ’26, a non-competitive cycling event dedicated to discovering the area on two wheels.

Three days of cycling routes, nature and shared experiences, with itineraries designed for different fitness levels: from recreational cyclists who want to enjoy the landscape to experienced riders looking for a true endurance and bikepacking adventure.

Cycling in the Heart of Umbria

MOTA ’26 is built around the MOTA Cycle Route, an itinerary that crosses the Lake Trasimeno area through gravel roads, trails, rolling hills, historic villages and landscapes overlooking the lakes.

The event involves 12 municipalities and offers a different way to discover this part of Umbria: slowly, by bike and in close contact with the landscape and local communities.

The heart of the event will be Sant’Arcangelo sul Trasimeno, at the Trasimeno Glamping Resort, where participant welcome services, the expo area and the main event activities will take place.

An Event for Different Types of Cyclists

One of the most interesting aspects of MOTA ’26 is the opportunity to choose between routes with different distances and difficulty levels.

Whether you prefer Gravel, MTB or E-bike, you can select the experience that best matches your fitness level and your way of enjoying cycling.

Bikepacking Experience – 320 km

Gravel | 25–27 September

The most demanding challenge of MOTA ’26.

A bikepacking experience of approximately 320 km along the MOTA Cycle Route, designed for riders who want to experience the area as a true multi-day cycling adventure.

The start is scheduled for Friday, 25 September at 7:00 am, with participants required to return by 10:00 pm on Sunday, 27 September.

A route for experienced cyclists who are comfortable with long distances and ready to spend several days in the saddle, crossing some of the most spectacular landscapes around Lake Trasimeno.

Hard Routes – 127 km and 80 km

Gravel / MTB

For those looking for an intense day of cycling, MOTA ’26 offers two long-distance routes.

Saturday, 26 September

127 km – approximately 1,600 m elevation gain

Open start between 7:00 am and 8:00 am.

A demanding route through gravel roads, climbs and panoramic landscapes across the Umbrian countryside.

Sunday, 27 September

80 km – approximately 1,000 m elevation gain

Open start between 7:00 am and 8:00 am.

A shorter distance compared with Saturday’s route, but still designed for riders looking for a challenging sporting experience.

Medium Routes – 50 km

MTB / E-bike / Gravel

For cyclists who want to experience MOTA at a more accessible pace, two 50 km routes are available.

Saturday, 26 September

50 km – approximately 1,000 m elevation gain

Open start between 8:00 am and 9:00 am.

Sunday, 27 September

50 km – approximately 500 m elevation gain

Open start between 8:00 am and 9:00 am.

Two options designed for those who want to combine sport with exploring the local area without taking on the longer Hard routes.

These routes are also particularly suitable for riders who choose to enjoy the event on an E-bike.

More Than Just Cycling

MOTA ’26 is not designed exclusively for experienced cyclists.

The programme also includes activities for families and outdoor enthusiasts, including a family trekking route and social trekking activities with joëlettes, with particular attention to accessibility and inclusion.

Throughout the weekend, participants can also enjoy welcome activities, refreshment points, an expo area, entertainment and opportunities to discover the local area.

Three Days to Discover Lake Trasimeno by Bike

MOTA ’26 is an opportunity to turn a weekend in Umbria into a cycling experience.

From 25 to 27 September 2026, the journey starts at Lake Trasimeno.
